You Just Invested in a New Brand and Got Your Brand Design Files Back… Now What?

Branding, Websites
July 15, 2024

YAY! You have a shiny new brand that you’re itching to show off to the world. Congratulations! But wait… what do you do now? Where do you start? Before you dive in and announce your new brand, let’s talk about how to properly update everything. The truth is, your old brand (or lack of cohesive brand!) is probably in a few more places than you realize! If you want the full list of places to update to your brand, download my free guide here.

Psssst: Before we dive in, if you’re a past or current branding client of mine, I can update everything for you on a VIP day so let me know if you want to book some implementation time to get this off your plate! It can take more time than you might expect (if you aren’t used to doing it every day).

Getting Started Updating Your New Brand

First things first, before I dive into where you should update your new brand, I want to encourage you to give yourself some time. You invested a lot of time and money into your new brand, and it’s worth taking your time to do it right. Your brand design won’t provide an ROI (or at least the same ROI) if your potential customers are seeing you show up inconsistently. Updating your brand across all platforms and materials can feel like a marathon, not a sprint. And that’s okay!

5 Things People Forget To Update When Get Their New Brand Files Back

I’ve put together a guide that lists ALL the places you’ll need to update with your new brand. It’s super thorough, so make sure to download it here to keep yourself on track. But for now, let’s talk about a few things that are often missed:

  1. Instagram Highlight Covers: Most businesses will rush to update their profile pic on Instagram but those little circles at the top of your profile? They are VALUABLE real estate to show off your new brand too. and if you’re not feeling creative? Even just choosing your brand colors as the circles can make a big difference in how cohesive your profile looks.
  2. Email Signature: When was the last time you really looked at your email signature? It’s easy to forget that your clients and vendor partners see it every time. Update it with your new brand colors and fonts for an easy way to make an extra impact.
  3. Website Favicon: That tiny icon in the browser tab? It needs updating! If you look up, you’ll see mine is a pink E (one of the submark logos for my brand). Take a few minutes to update yours too!
  4. Freebies/Email PDFs: Those free guides on your website are your ideal client’s FIRST impression. It’s easy to forget about them once they’re created, but when you invest in a professional brand, it’s worth going through what you have and giving it a refresh! The same goes for your client collateral (like your welcome guides, pricing guides, and even your contracts!).
  5. Your CRM (Customer Relationship Management System): Last but not least, make sure your customer relationship management system is in line with your new look. Oftentimes if you’re using something like Dubsado, you can update your logo and colors in your settings instead of on each individual form!

Again, I have all the things that you should update once you receive your new brand files here (so you can check things off easily!), but before I finish up, I have a few more tips for you!

Brand Consistency Matters

First, let me just stress one more time that your brand consistency matters. You’ve invested in your business, now make sure your brand is everywhere it should be.

And here’s a fun stat for you: did you know 75% of people recognize a brand by its logo, 60% by its visual style, 45% by its signature color, and 25% by its unique voice (Renderforest, 2024)? When you show up consistently across all platforms, you will begin to build trust and recognition with your audience. The more consistent you are with your visuals, the faster you will start to build brand recognition.

Consider Any Products/Swag for Your Company

As you’re staring at your new brand files, it might be time to consider any additional products or swag for your company. Do you offer client gifting? You might want design help for thank-you cards, packaging, or even branded items like water bottles and keychains. Even if you’re thinking about selling products in the future (like this med spa), planning your branding now will save you time and ensure everything looks cohesive.

Build a Good Relationship with Your Designer

I know this might feel a little self-serving but let’s be real—having a go-to designer can save you a ton of time and stress. I offer VIP days, so any time there’s a new project, you can hire me without needing to keep a designer on retainer. This way, you get expert help exactly when you need it (without the hefty price tag). Finding a designer that can be flexible and doesn’t make you start from “square one” every time will help make updating your brand and assets feel more sustainable, which will feel so good!
